SUTHAI WORK IN GOPURAM/MANDAPAM/THOONS (PILLARS )

Suthai sirpam are sculptures made of lime. Wooden sticks and lime were used to make these sculptures in ancient times. Suthai sirpam have been in vogue in Tamil Nadu for centuries. Later cement was used instead of lime. Iron rods were used instead of wooden sticks. Although the earlier sculptures are not found today. In the temples like Srirangam, Samayapuram, Alaghar Temple, Sirkazhi, Madurai Koodal Alaghar Temple, Karuvarai Moolavar sculpture is made as suthai sirpam. The top of the vimana and the towers are decorated with suthai sirpam and also . They are also beautifully painted with different colours. We do all type of suthai works for temple gopuram , pillar and for the mandapam.
